What is Nettle?
Nettle (Urtica dioica), also known as stinging nettle, is a flowering perennial plant which is native to Asia, Europe, North America and the northern part of Africa.
According to the BBC, stinging nettle was used for medicinal purposes as long ago as the time of the Roman Empire.
Erhlich, in a review of stinging nettle for a University of Maryland Medical Center website,
noted that stinging nettle is used to treat anemia, arthritis, eczema, gout and painful joints and muscles. It is also often used to treat enlarged prostate, hay fever, sprains, tendinitis and urinary tract infections.
Chemical constituents of Stinging Nettle Extract powder
Nettle supplements are usually extracted for the main active ingredient, 3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran, which is responsible for most of the benefits of nettle. Extracts of nettle as high as 95% 3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran are available, and are included in many sports and testosterone boosting supplements.
Benefits of taking Stinging Nettle Extract powder supplements:
Traditional
medicine
Nettle has been studied extensively and has shown promise in treating Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, asthma, bladder infections, bronchitis, bursitis, gingivitis, gout, hives, kidney stones, laryngitis, multiple sclerosis, PMS, prostate enlargement, sciatica, and tendinitis! Externally it has been used to improve the appearance of the hair, and is said to be a remedy against oily hair and dandruff.
In Germany today stinging nettle is sold as an herbal drug for prostate diseases and as a diuretic. It is a common ingredient in other herbal drugs produced in Germany for rheumatic complaints and inflammatory conditions (especially for the lower urinary tract and prostate). In the United States many remarkable healing properties are attributed to nettle and the leaf is utilized for different problems than the root. The leaf is used here as a diuretic, for arthritis, prostatitis, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and allergic rhinitis.
> bodybuilding supplements
Stinging Nettle Extract powder is a very popular ingredient in bodybuilding supplements because of its ability to keep testosterone flowing freely through the body. Since testosterone is concentrated in the muscle tissue, Nettle Extract helps to increase the free flowing beneficial testosterone, which means an increase in lean muscle mass.
Stinging Nettle Extract powder are able to boost free testosterone levels. Free testosterone, as opposed to bound testosterone, is active, useable testosterone. This is what provides the benefits typically associated with elevated testosterone levels such as increasing strength and muscle mass. When testosterone binds to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), it changes from free to bound, and becomes useless. Stinging Nettle Extract powder elevate free testosterone levels by binding to sex hormone-binding globulin in place of testosterone, so that a higher percentage of the bodies testosterone is free.
> treatment of benign prostate and hair loss .
Stinging Nettle Extract powder can also prevent prostate enlargement, as well as help you keep your hair! Prostate growth and balding are both stimulated by dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a natural metabolite of testosterone.Stinging Nettle Extract powder prevent prostate enlargement and hair loss by inhibiting DHT from binding to the prostate membrane, and also by inhibiting certain enzymes which cause testosterone to convert to DHT.

anti-inflammatory
Taken orally, products made from Stinging Nettle Extract powder may interfere with the body's production of prostaglandins and other inflammation-causing chemicals. Consequently, nettle may have an anti-inflammatory effect. It may also enhance responses of the immune system. Chemicals in nettle's aerial parts are also thought to reduce the feeling of pain or interfere with the way that nerves send pain signals. All of these effects may reduce the pain and stiffness of arthritis and other similar conditions.
