What is Cyanotis extract powder?
Herbs perennial; roots fibrous. Main stem
undeveloped, short; fertile stems arising from beneath leaf rosette, diffuse,
creeping, 20--80 cm. Leaves in a basal rosette and cauline; rosulate leaf blade
linear, 8--35 × 0.5--1.5 cm; cauline leaf blade on fertile stems much shorter,
to 7 cm, abaxially rather densely arachnoid. Cincinni often several, forming
both terminal and axillary heads, sessile or on peduncle to 4 cm; bracts 7--8
mm. Sepals connate at base, linear-lanceolate, ca. 5 mm, abaxially arachnoid. Petals
blue-purple, blue, or white, ca. 6 mm. Filaments blue arachnoid. Capsule
broadly oblong, trigonous, ca. 2.5 mm, densely hirsutulous at apex. Seeds
gray-brown, pitted. Fl. Jun--Sep, fr. Oct.
By streams, humid ravines and rocks; near sea
level to 2700 m. Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, SW Guizhou, Hainan (Baoting Xian,
Chengmai Xian), SW Jiangxi (Longnan Xian), Taiwan, C and S Yunnan [India, Laos,
Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam].
The roots are used as medicine for
stimulating blood circulation, as a muscle and joint relaxant, and for
relieving rheumatoid arthritis.
Chemical constituents of Cyanotis extract
powder
The principal constituents of the whole plant
are ecdysteroids (5 beta-cholest-6-on-7-ene derivatives) and flavonoids. Also
polyacetylenes and triterpenes have been isolated from different parts of the
plant (Girault et. al. 1984, Szendrei et. al. 1984, Varga et al. 1986 and
1990). Of the isolated compounds, only 20-β-Hydroxyecdysterone is
currently considered to play an important role in the action of this plant.
(Syrov and Kurmukov 1976). The main flavonoides are 6-methoxy-kampferol,
patuletin, isorhamnetin-glycoside and quercetin-5-glycoside. All leaf and root
samples contained 20-hydroxyecdysone as a main compound of Cyanotis arachnoidea.
The 20-β-Hydroxyecdysterone of the roots ranged from 0.12 to 0.20%, being
higher than that of the leaves.
Function of 20-β-Hydroxyecdysterone:
During the human organism adaptive response
to stress factors, the role of ecdysterone consists primarily of the activation
of a synthesis of various proteins. For instance , repeated physical stress of
muscles triggers an adaptive synthesis of oxidative enzymes and the formation
of contractile proteins in muscle cells and the growth of new muscle capillaries.
This occurs with the participation of testosterone - it is this hormone which
activates the genes controlling protein synthesis. During exhaustive physical
exercise, the testosterone concentration in the blood stream drops. Ecdysterone
can then become an effective substitute for the missing testosterone,
displaying its anabolic activity and promoting the adaptation to physical
stress.
Benefits of taking Cyanotis extract powder supplements:
Cyanotis arachnoidea is an old folk medicine for fatigue.
It has been traditionally used as a stimulant, for overcoming impotence, and to
assist convalescence from long illness. Russian and Eastern researchers have
found that Cyanotis arachnoidea has a beneficial effect on memory and learning,
and can help break addictive behaviours. It increases working capacity in tired
skeletal muscles, relieves neurosis, and benefits anabolic and adaptogenic
processes Gadzhieva, R.M. et al. (1995). It enhances speed, strength, and
functioning of the muscle system. Cyanotis arachnoidea extract has been used by
Eastern Bloc athletes as a natural anabolic, adaptogen, and bio-stimulant.
Some applications
>Contributes to an increase of muscle
mass;
>Reinforces contractions of the heart muscles;
>Improves blood circulation in muscles and brain;
>Increases resistance to oxygen starvation;
>Elevates the ability and mobility of spermatozoids in
vitro;
>Accelerates sexual maturity and the first pregnancy
of female animals;
>Prevents development of experimental hyper and hypoglycemia,
leukocytosis, leucopoenia, erythrocytosis and erythropenit;
>Improves transmition of impulse interneuronal;
>Neutralizes the suppressive effect;
>Restores the capacity to focus, concentrate and
perform mental work in men while mentally fatigued;
Side effects and safety of Cyanotis extract powder
In doses up to 40 mg/kg the extract was non-toxic. In
certain doses in mice and rats Leuzea carthamoides exerted a moderate central
stimulation action, increased ambulating and rearing, increased central nervous
excitability and improved learning and memory without any pronounced
side-effects (Petkov 1984).
Dosage of Cyanotis extract
powder
supplement:
A typical dose would be 400 to 600 mg per day.
